musings

  • Best of 2013

A bit late this year, but here are my top two useful tools for 2013:

    1. PyCharm. JetBrains is doing a superb job with this IDE. If you’re doing sustained Python/Django work, Pycharm will make your life easier. It certainly has all of the expected bells and whistles, but it’s also easy to quickly configure for an optimum development environment.

    2. Surface Pro 2. Microsoft’s compact hardware is a must for frequent travelers. Small, light, and fast it’s the best world of Desktop and apps (though not all apps are available on the platform). Kindle and movies are easily accessible on flights, and the keyboard and arc touch mouse (both sold separately) make typing in a compact economy seat actually feasible.
